Medicare is health care for people 65 and over.  If you have a health license you are able to offer Medicare.  There are two types of Medicare.

  1. Medicare Advantage – requires agent to take an annual AHIP training and carrier training.  Recommend for agent who’s primary focus is Medciare industry.
  2. Medigap or Med Sup is supplemental Medicare that is offered by private insurance to supplement an individuals Medicare health care plan with additional coverages.  If you are primarily a life agent then it is recommend that you only offer Medigap and not get involved with Medicare Adavantage.  Medigap is easier and can be discussed while on a final expense appointment.
